[ARCHIVED] Red Tide Alert

Beaches Open ocean photograph

We are going to open our beaches. We are flying double red flags which means that swimmers should stay out of the water. We want to let the public know that there are still dead fish on the beach and that the beach cleaning contractors will be coming through the beach areas to dispose of the seaweed and fish.  The most important note is that cleaning the beaches will take some time to finish. Rob Slezak - Recreation Director City of Vero Beach

Recent tests for Indian River County are negative for red tide!  All guarded beaches in Indian River County, including the City of Vero Beach, are OPEN today (with the exception of Tracking Station Beach Park - which is delayed due to cleanup activities).
